Movie Night

It's not often that I find myself in Wal-Mart and I'm actually excited about something. Today however, that's exactly what happened. There I was, minding my own business browsing the $5 dvd's, and as usual finding nothing, but then I turned around and there was a display sitting in the middle of the floor with various "double features" and the like strewn about. I normally don't even bother looking at these multi-film collections because I'm a bit of a dvd snob like that. BUT, one caught my eye, and it was so awesome that I had to look twice to make sure I was seeing what I thought I was seeing. Can you believe, Tales From the Crypt Presents Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood all in one $7 package! I would've payed $7 each for them separately on any day, so finding them both together for that price was simply a no-brainer.

I shouldn't have to tell anybody why these are awesome, and to be honest the Crypt Keeper does a good enough job all by himself in the trailers, so if you won't take my word for it, maybe you'll take his. I will say that this movie is the very reason that to this day I think Billy Zane is awesome, and I don't care what anybody else has to say on the subject. "You fuckin' hodunk, podunk, well then there motherfuckers!!! All you had to do was gimme the goddamn key!"

And then there's the almost universally hated follow-up Bordello of Blood. Honestly I'm being serious when I say that my brother and I might be the only two people on the planet who will confess to liking this movie. What can I say? You mix vampires and one of, if not both of, the Coreys and you've got yourself a recipe for success in my humble opinion.

Villains of the DCU Joker bust

I promised this a while back, but have since then been through 3 different phones, so I apologize for the delay. I know you were all very excited about seeing more pics of my toys.

So here's DC Direct's "Villains of the DC Universe Joker bust". I gotta say, it looks identical to the picture in Previews, which sadly isn't always the case, and is absolutely gorgeous. I love the pose, I love the Jack-in-the-Box, and the sculpt is really well done.

It looks like they went with the Joker from Grant Morrison's current Batman stuff, which is a bit of a cross between the traditional Joker, and the Dark Knight movie Joker with the scarred mouth. I guess that's ok, though I like regular old Joker just fine. He's scary enough without adding horrendous scars to his mouth and face.

The bust is based off of the art of Gary Frank, who as you might remember, I believe is a God of some sort. He is being SORELY missed on the Superman books right now. I don't know that I've ever seen his Joker before though, and after buying this bust, I'd definitely like to see more.

And that's the Villains of the DCU Joker bust. A fine addition to the Batcave in my opinion. This is only my second Joker statue, but is my favorite by far.

Next up should be the Villains of the DCU Bizarro bust that I ordered, which will by my 3rd Bizarro statue. It's also based on a Gary Frank design, and thus will be amazing. Stay tuned!

Green Means Go

Well it had to happen sooner or later, Woot finally posted another shirt that I couldn't live without. Here's the thing, anytime you see a shirt that's either a Batman, Green Lantern, Hellboy, or Friday the 13th reference, just go ahead and assume that I'll buy it. Such is the case with "Green Means Go"...

Week 4

Saw arrived on Monday, so I spent a couple hours after dinner playing. When I say a "couple" I literally mean I may have played for 2 hours total, and my God at the achievements. This game literally throws them at you! Here's the list so far: "It's a Trap!", "Treasure!", "What Was That?", "Would You Like to Know More?", "Just Experimenting", "I'm in Charge", "It Was an Accident", "Pipe Dream", "Who is the Jigsaw Killer?", "Forced Entry", and "Darwin Would be Proud" which I got for dying for the first time, which I did on purpose just to see what would happen if I did a puzzle wrong...it was worth it hehe. I also got "You've Wasted Your Life" which unlocks when you sit idle for five minutes...I didn't even know this was an achievement, I put the controller down to send a text on my phone and looked up to see who was online when I heard the notification, imagine my surprise when I saw that it was an achievement!

So far I'm kinda digging Saw though. It's a movie game, but still it really isn't that bad. So far all I've found to use in combat is the pipe, and boy is it clunky, but I'm hoping that's because it's supposed to be a heavier weapon or something. The puzzles haven't been extremely difficult yet, but I'm sure they'll ramp up. I've described it so far to people as either "Silent Hill Lite" or "Silent Hill for Dummies". I'll let you decide which you like better.

Another day, another excuse to play Hockey. Tuesday night I took my Thrashers and put a beat down on the team I hate the most in all of hockey, the New York Rangers. What made the victory even sweeter was earning the "Dump It" achievement for dumping the puck into the offensive zone 10 times in one game.

After that, I jumped back into the sick and twister world of Jigsaw and his murder puzzles. I've come up with yet another comparison for this game, it's like Silent Hill and Manhunt are second cousins, but they think each other are purty, so they have a kid together, Saw is that kid. Anyway, solving more puzzles that my 6 year old could figure out earned me the "Damaged Goods" achievement. On the combat side of things, I managed to beat a person to death with a baseball bat for the "Homerun" achievement, beat a person to death with a mannequin arm for the "Give me Five!" achievement, and run away from a guy wearing a shotgun collar like mine long enough for his shotgun collar to go off, taking his head with it, for the "Kill or Be Killed" achievement.

More Saw on Wednesday, and more beating people to death with random items scattered about...come to think of it I have no idea where the hell this game is taking place. Some run down old building. Anyway, I beat people to death on Wednesday with the following: a table leg for the "You've Been Served" achievement, a mop handle for the "Cleaning Up" achievement, a crutch for the "You'll Need this Afterwards" achievement, a baseball bat with a bunch of nails sticking out of it for the "Sometimes it Sticks" achievement, and last but certainly not least, a table lamp for the "Light's Off" achievement. If it sounds ridiculous, it's because it is.

All that pummeling also got me the "Self-Defense" achievement for killing 10 minions. I also picked my 5th locked door and for my trouble was awarded with the "Locksmith" achievement.

And Saw once again Friday night. Solved the Pendulum Trap and got "Hit and Run", and 10 more minions fell before my awesome pipe-swinging flurry of violent rage, and "Duress" was my reward.

Decided to take a break from Saw on Saturday night, and revisit the world of Street Fighter. I'm a bit of a SF junkie, and from time to time I'll go back and pick it up and get hooked for a while. I'm absolutely dying to play Marvel vs. Capcom 3! Anyway, back to the subject at hand, while working on the Time Attack challenge I pulled off my 100th Super Combo and unlock the "Super Combo Master" achievement.

So week four is in the books, and it looks like 50k by Halloween is going to be a walk in the park. Here's your breakdown for this week:

Beginning Gamerscore: 48,547
Finishing Gamerscore: 48,972

Another 425 toward my goal! Next week I'll hopefully be finishing up Saw, and preparing to start (hopefully again) Metro 2033 or more likely Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard.

What Do You Get....

....when you mix Batman, Superman, a Vampire, a Werewolf, zombies, Voodoo, Tom Mandrake art and Dr. Fate?

Good comics folks.

Everybody read last year's horribly titled, yet surprisingly awesome "Superman and Batman vs Vampires and Werewolves" mini right? Well the current arc in Batman Confidential which began with issue 45 is a direct sequel to that story, and is equally awesome. Read it! Batman kicks the spine right out of a zombie's back! Is there anything better than that? No.

Mister Bones' Top 5

Was watching Xplay yesterday and they had their "Top 5 Zombie games", and well you just know I didn't agree with it, soooo....

Top 5 Zombie Games

5. House of the Dead 2 - G's Bloodstains! This game is an absolute classic. I'm pretty sure I could've put myself through med school with the amount of quarters I put into HoD2 cabinets over the years. I still have it on my Dreamcast, and play every now and then. I've always had a love for on-rail shooters, and as far as I'm considered, this is about as good as they get. I may, may give CarnEvil just a slight edge over HoD2, but as far as I know there was never a home version of it, so this one makes the list instead.

4. Resident Evil - The original, the one that invented the Survival Horror genre and redefined horror gaming forever. It's campy dialog, ridiculous fetch-quests, and nonsense puzzles will always have a special place in my heart. Remember that first cut-scene with the zombie chowing down, and then he turns his head slowly and glares at you? Me too! It's one of the greatest scenes in video game history. Not to mention the hallway with the dogs, the room with the crows, Albert fucking Wesker, the giant shark, the snake, Forrest, the Hunters...this game is literally packed with moments I'll remember forever.

3. Left 4 Dead/ Left 4 Dead 2 - I'm combining these two since they a) came out so close together and b) essentially combine to become one colossally awesome game. This is the one that tops almost every single "Top Zombie Game" list out there, and in some ways it's a well deserved honor. As far as pure shooters go, this one is the cream of the zombie crop. My only problem with it? I'm a bit of a zombie purist, I like my zombies to consume brains/human flesh/ etc. These zombies? They knock you down and scratch you. They also run really fast, and that's an argument you do NOT want me to get into. Slow zombies ftw. Still these "infected people" are tons of fun to shoot.

2. Resident Evil 2 - How do you top the greatness that was Resident Evil? You make it bigger, better, and let players run through a lot of Raccoon City instead of just a mansion/secret underground lab, and you add Lickers, and a giant alligator in the sewer, the G-Virus, and the first appearance of Nemesis! Resident Evil 2 did everything right that Resident Evil did, only on a much grander scale. It was also the first game I remember playing that had two discs, two main characters, and two different perspectives for the single player campaign.

1. Dead Rising - This will surprise absolutely no one. It's my favorite 360 game to date, it's one of my favorite video games of all time, and it is hands down the greatest zombie video game ever made. This is nothing short of a George Romero classic that you get to play. I've literally spent hours having a blast discovering all the ways to dismember the undead. Zombies in a mall is nothing new, zombies in mall from our generation though? That's new, and awesome. Frank West is a zombie killing machine, and one of the greatest video game leads in history. Dead Rising 2 is dropping soon (not soon enough) and my one and only complaint I've had since it was announced is that Frank isn't in it. Still I'm sure after all is said and done, one of the games on this list will be moving down a notch, and DR2 will be added pretty close to the top spot.

Some honorables worth mentioning, old school fun in "Zombies Ate my Neighbors", yet another Resident Evil game, "Code Veronica", and who could deny the fun of XBLA title "Zombie Apocalypse"? Also worth a mention, though technically not available for this list because the zombies aren't the main focus is "Call of Duty: World at War" which may have the absolute greatest add-on mp game type of all time and is without a doubt the best reason to own a Call of Duty game.

Week 3

Sunday night only got in about a half hour of play time, decided to hop back into Mass Effect 2. I added Geth to my squad, and earned the "A House Divided" achievement.

Tuesday, Def Shepard and his team embarked on the suicide mission to take down the Collectors once and for all! We lost some good people, but gained some nice achievements, "Suicide Mission", "Against All Odds", "Long Service Medal", and "Mission Accomplished" to be exact. Also worth noting is that I managed to score with Chuck's bodyguard/on again off again girlfriend! Technically it was just a video game character modeled after her, and technically it was Def Shepard that scored with her, but I'M the one who got the "Paramour" achievement and 50g... And with that, I've completed Mass Effect 2, and honestly I don't think I've ever played a better RPG, including Knights of the Old Republic. Will undoubtedly be revisiting this one before ME3 drops because I wasn't thrilled with the death of my favorite character and I'd like to rectify that mistake, the other two I lost I'm not concerned with in the least. Garrus WILL NOT DIE, best believe that.

Friday night I took advantage of Gamestop's 3 day buy 2 get 1 free sale on used games, and picked up amongst other things, NHL 10 for myself. I normally buy a hockey game every year, and the past couple years I went with the PS3 versions, but I've found that I like the 360 controller better on sports games, particularly hockey. So I laced up my skates and hit the ice for a couple hours, got "Self Sacrifice" for scoring a goal with an injured player, which is a cool little new feature where a player is hurt and the game gives you an injury report and the option to bench him or keep him in play. In my particular case, Mike Richards broke his nose, but I decided that the real Mike Richards would keep playing despite the injury, and as such virtual Mike Richards was left in the game, and went on to score a goal! I also grabbed "Look No Goalie" for scoring a goal after pulling my netminder, "Board Play" for pinning a player from the opposing team against the boards and taking the puck away from him, "Don't Let Up" for scoring 4 unanswered goals against the CPU, and "Eager to Learn" for completing the tutorial at the beginning of the game.

Decided to hit the ice again Saturday morning, only online this time as a lot of the achievements require you to do so in NHL 10. As expected, I was beaten, humiliatingly so, as not only was my opponent superior in skill level, but I had to alter my play to work at unlocking a couple of achievements. Anyway, I lost, but was successful in earning "No Offsides" and "No Icing" which are both self explanatory. I also played a match using the NHL '94 control settings, and for that I got the "New Beginnings" achievement.

Week 3 complete! I didn't play as much, but when I did, I made it count heh. I have a feeling that I'm going to be stuck on NHL for a while, and there aren't many more achievements I see in my future on that one, as most of the rest are for online play, or the "Be a Pro" mode which I never bother with. Gotta love the hockey though, and I get very addicted to these games every year. The week 3 breakdown looks like this:

Beginning Gamerscore: 48,007
Finishing Gamerscore: 48,547

Only played on 4 of the 7 days, but added 540 points! As mentioned above, more hockey this week and I should be getting Saw from Gamefly, so maybe it will make up for the lack of NHL achievements.

Movie Night

So I've heard a lot about this guy Ryan Nicholson, but I've never had the opportunity to watch any of his films. Thanks in part to my movie partner in crime Linde, and Netflix, tonight I'll finally get my first exposure to the twisted shenanigans that apparently run rampant through Nicholson's work.

Hanger has officially, and completely unexpectedly, landed on Netflix Instant view, and I quickly added it to the queue. However I'm going to give Gutterballs a watch first, as I'm finding it's his best reviewed. If I like these two, I'll more than likely be doing whatever I can to get my hands/eyes on his entire library.

I normally talk a little about the films I'm watching on Movie Night, but then I've usually seen them dozens of times. Being that I've never seen either of these, I'll just let Amazon take it from here.

From the director of LIVE FEED comes the most outrageous, gross-out flick of the year! A brutally sadistic rape leads to a series of bizarre gory murders during a midnight disco bowl-a-rama at a popular bowling alley. One by one, players of two teams meet blood-drenched gruesome deaths at the hand of a black bowling-gloved masked killer. This alley will run red with blood by sunrise and the shocking twist that reveals the killer will shock even the most jaded viewer!

From Ryan Nicholson, the acclaimed writer-director of the cult hit Gutterballs, comes this gruesome horror tale in which revenge is sweet and sick and twisted and definitely served cold a balls-to-the-wall story of vengeance and murder that rises to new heights of perverse action and macabre behavior. Eighteen years ago, nine-months-pregnant Rose (B-Movie Hall of Fame acting legend Debbie Rochon), a wrong-side-of-the-tracks prostitute, was killed when her pimp gave her an abortion with a hanger. Now, the deformed, surviving child (Nathan Dashwood, TV s Smallville ), who was thrown in the dumpster, left for dead and mockingly called Hanger, is about to settle the score and any street trash, sex degenerate of murderous pimp better beware.

Week 2

Week two started off right as the brand new XBLA Afterburner game went on sale for half price Monday morning. Love me some Afterburner, so I grabbed it first thing. This is the kind of game that reminds me why I love my Dreamcast so much. My first play got me the "Rank In", "Stealth Bomber", "Emergency Order", "Climax Mode", and "ROLL" achievements.

Back to Mass Effect 2 on Wednesday morning, and it's looking like I'm getting close to finishing my first and likely only playthrough. Def Shepard recruited the final member of his team tasked with taking down the Collectors by adding Tali to the roster and in the process earned me the "The Quarian" achievement. A side mission at the request of the Justicar had me being used as bait in an elaborate scheme to bring her daughter out of hiding so we could kill her, and get me the "Doppleganger" achievement. And finally, investigating a derelict alien vessel we ran into yet another trap, narrowly escaped with our lives (and ship) intact, and got the "Ghost Ship" achievement.

Thursday I took the highway to the danger zone and fired up Afterburner Climax again. I'm sorry but I absolutely love this game, and I can't believe it was only 400 points. Hopped in the cockpit of the F-14D and blasted my way to the end of arcade mode for the "Super Tomcat" achievement, and managed to pick up "Across Enemy Lines" along the way. Thanks to my superior flight skills, and insatiable need for speed, I also got "Triple A" for my final mission time's AAA ranking.

Thursday night, Def Shepard was attacked by Mass Effect's own brand of zombies! I knocked back and then shot 20 Husks and for that, I was labeled a "Brawler".

Friday morning Goose talked to me, and it was time for more Afterburner. I finished campaign mode with the other two fighters, earning the "Super Hornet" and "Strike Eagle" achievements. I've also unlocked most of the EX options which adjust the gameplay settings allowing for things like speed boosts and a larger reticle for missile lock, and thanks to that I also earned the "50 Combo" achievement. On my last playthrough with the F-15, I also finally found my way to the final bonus mission, and after taking down all the nukes got the "A" ending and the achievement for finishing it, "All Clear". And with that, I have all the achievements in Afterburner Climax! There are still a few EX options I've got to unlock, and this game is just too much fun to put down anytime soon, but alas no more achievements to be earned.

After a trip to the mailbox I discovered that the Gamefly gods had seen fit to bestow Ninja Blade upon me. I always jump at a chance to put my elite ninja skills to the test (and my quick time button pressing skills as it turns out) and Friday evening I did just that. I fought a giant flaming mutant creature, learned to wall jump, and killed a gigantic mutant spider amongst other ninja-like shenanigans, and without going into too much more boring detail, I earned the "It slices, it dices!", "Enter the Way of the Ninja", "Yes, I am that Good", "Not too Shabby", "Let off Some Steam", "I'm Rubber and You're Glue", "Nothing Left but the Dying", "Chewy on the Inside", "Gotta Get them All", "How Ya Like me Now?", and "Only a Ninja can Stop a Ninja" achievements, and that was only the first mission! See I told you, my ninja skills are ELITE son.

Saturday morning I jumped back into Ninja Blade before heading out for the day. I swear this game is nothing but quick time button press sequences, platforming, and boss battle after boss battle, and the boss battles also require you to platform and quick time button mash. It's insane, and can be quite frustrating being that the control is a little iffy at times. Not sure if I'll finish it or not, but this morning I did manage to finish mission two, and picked up "Burn, Baby, Burn!", "Sharp Dressed Man", and "Two-Wheel Daredevil". Seriously mission two's finale had to be seen to be believed, hah.

Saturday night I finally got a chance to play in my 6th mutation in Left 4 Dead 2, which was actually my 8th, but the achievement didn't pop until last night. So far my favorite mutation has been the Chainsaw Massacre one, which has come around twice now, and both times I played it, and neither time did it count towards the achievement for me for some reason. Oh well, Saturday night I finally became a "Mutant Overlord" and unlocked the Gnome avatar award!

Week two seems like it was much more productive toward that illustrious 50k benchmark. Afterburner was definitely my favorite game this week, and Ninja Blade is more than likely going back to Gamefly unfinished. Here's the breakdown:

Beginning Gamerscore: 47,532
Finishing Gamerscore: 48,007

475 points gained this week! Up next on the Gamefly queue is either Metro 2033 (which I REALLY hope is shipped), Saw, or Eat Lead the Return of Matt Hazard.

Predators

Well it's finally here, and yesterday I went to the first showing of Predators in my favorite theater. I purposely waited this time instead of writing as soon as I got home, and if you're thinking that's a sign that I wasn't crazy about the movie, you're not entirely wrong. That's not to say it's a bad movie, I probably had unrealistic expectations for it. Still anybody who is a fan of the kinds of movies I am probably has love for both Robert Rodriguez and Predator, and the two together should be a recipe for movie perfection. Unfortunately as stated, I was a bit disappointed.

The story was a pretty cool idea, although personally I prefer the idea of the Predators traveling the galaxy hunting for trophies instead of bringing the trophies home and hunting them. The effects were the best part, as expected, and at times I had trouble deciding what was practical and what was computer generated and this is probably the highest compliment I can give to an effects crew. The cast on the other hand was a bit lifeless, and maybe I'm the only one, but I had trouble buying Adrian Brody as the mercenary "badass" character. That might have something to do with the fact that it wasn't all that long ago that I watched him as a tree-hugging hippie scientist in Splice. The rest basically fit into one action movie cliche or another. Laurence Fishburn even started off this way, but his character took a turn that made him end up being one of my favorites. Overall though I never really cared who was going to be taken down next, which is certainly something this movie doesn't have in common with the original Predator.

We all know I love horror films, and although I don't consider myself a "gorehound" by any stretch of the imagination, I do appreciate some blood and body parts. Remember in Predator when Blain got his chest burst open by the Predator's shoulder cannon, or the way Dillon went out after losing an arm, or the scene when the Predator claimed his "trophy" after gutting Billy? Me too! That's part of why I was so terrified of the Predator as a kid and why I love him so much now. In Predators, you don't get any of that. A couple of people do get the shoulder cannon treatment, but all it does is burn. One of the Predators does grab himself a trophy, but all we get is a spine rip, no cleaning of the skull or anything. Most of the blood and gore is from the Predators themselves, not because of them. I guess green blood is more acceptable to Fox and the movie goers of the world. My how far movies have fallen since 1987.

My other little gripe was that there were things in the trailers that not only weren't in the movie, but were overall misleading. First the misleading, remember in the trailer when Adrian Brody was targeted by one Predator, and then several others, ending up with the signature red triangles all over him? Yeah that doesn't happen, only one targets him. And even if it had happened, there are only 3 Predators in this movie, not 50. The other thing, and this REALLY bothered me, is how prominently the iconic Predator roar is used in the trailers. In fact in one of the later trailers it's pretty much just looped over and over for the whole trailer. Well, the Predators here roar, in fact they roar a lot, only it sounds absolutely NOTHING like it's supposed to. In fact if I walked outside right now and heard it, I wouldn't think "holy shit Predator!", I'd probably say something like "woah, was that a bear?" and believe me when I tell you I'm people who KNOW when they've heard a Predator.

This isn't necessarily a critique of just Predators, but the treatment of Predator in general in film since the first two movies. Predator and Predator 2 had ONE Predator each in them (except of course the ending of P2) and it took damn near 10 spec ops soldiers each to take them down. Enter AvP, in one scene alone a SINGLE xenomorph kills two Predators, Requiem was a little better by the Predator but that movie was more about the xenomorphs anyway, and now Predators, where three bite the bullet and only manage a body count of 6 between them. When did the Predators become such pussies? Were the two in the first two movies just the uber-Preds that all others hope to someday be? Have human beings become that much more badass? Wait, forget I said that, it took Arnold, Apollo Creed, and Jesse the Body Ventura to kill the first one, and NOTHING is more baedass than that. Certainly not sissy ass Adrian Brody doing his best "gruff" tough guy voice.

Ok so all that aside, this wasn't a terrible movie, in fact compared to the Alien vs Predators of the world, it's quite good. I know it sounds like I hated it, I really didn't though. It was the best Predator movie we've gotten since Predator 2, and by far. I really hope that through repeated viewing it will grow on me. Robert Rodriguez tried really hard to recapture the magic of the first film, with little nods thrown in throughout Predators. Unfortunately for me, the lack of brutality and violence, which I was sure Robert was going to deliver, ended up keeping it from really achieving that goal.

Week 1

Started the week off on Sunday with a couple of old XBLA achievements. I played the trial of the new Duke Nukem game, and it was terrible, but it made me want to finish up Duke 3D, managed to get "Come Get Some" for finishing the Shrapnel City chapter. Moved on from there to Battlefield 1943, and finally 100% on this one now. The only achievement I needed was "Tour of Duty II" for playing 100 matches, and I knew I had to be pretty close as much as I've played this one. Turned out I was only 3 matches shy, so after about 45 mins, the achievement popped.

I spent the evening with Def Shepard and the crew of the Normandy 2.0 in Mass Effect 2. A trip to the Krogan homeworld would gain me the loyalty of the Professor and "The Cure" achievement, as well as the loyalty of the Krogan and "The Battlemaster" achievement. Along they way a Thresher Maw also lost it's life, and the "Big Game Hunter" achievement was mine.

Monday I took a trip to the museum in Liberty City and came away with the "Impossible Trinity" achievement. I also came away with an infuriating reminder as to why I only pick this game up and play it every couple of months for a day or two, and FUCK the "No way on the Subway" mission btw. I also slang a little yayo for my home Little Jacob, and for my troubles I was rewarded with the "Courier Service" achievement.

On Wednesday, I spent the first part of my morning battling the dastardly villains of Lego Gotham City. I've already played through and finished Lego Batman on my PS3, but Jacob has the 360 version, and I need some achievements, soooooo.... The kid and I teamed up and took down Clayface, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, and the Riddler, and along the way I picked up the "Hero", "Sidekick", "Master Builder" and "Unbreakable" achievements.

Wednesday evening rolled around, and I headed back out into the stars for some more Mass Effect 2. In a desperate attempt to gain the loyalty of the entire crew of the Normandy, I stopped an assassination, destroyed a facility that did biotic testing on children, and helped Garrus whack the motherfucker that double crossed him. In the process, I earned myself the "Cat's in the Cradle", "Catharsis", and "Fade Away" achievements respectively.

Friday night, time to save the galaxy and such again, Mass Effect 2 was the game of choice. Not much to report, scanning random planets got me the "Agent" achievement.

Saturday night closed out the first week, with Mass Effect 2 once again as the game of choice. I like that game, it's a really, really good one. Ahem, anyway, Def Shepard continued to build his team to go up against the Collectors by recruiting the Justicar and in the process earned me the "The Justicar" achievement.

So week one in the books, and I managed to gain quite a few achievements looking back. I was also playing Darksiders on PS3 this week, which explains my absence a couple days. I like that game too, it's ended up being much better than I thought it would be, and the fact that I'm basically watching moving Joe Madureira drawings is too cool. Here's the breakdown:

Beginning Gamerscore: 47,247
Finishing Gamerscore: 47,532

That's a gain of 285 points this week for those of you keeping score at home (which let's be honest, is all of you). Not a bad start, but I'm gonna have to step it up and spend a little less time on the PS3 if I'm going to hit 50k by the end of October.

Infinite Playlist - Solace Lost Edition

This is an extra special edition of Mister Bones' Infinite Playlist featuring Solace Lost. This is a metal band from the Newnan, GA area, who play in Atlanta and surrounding areas. One of the guitarists also happens to be a friend of mine, that's him in the Exit Stain (my personal fave) vid melting your face at 13 seconds in.

They'll be playing in LaGrange, GA on the 10th of this month, and again at the Masquerade in Atlanta on August 11th. Check them out if you can, and buy a shirt or cd or something! I have both a shirt AND a cd, and you know you want to be more like me anyway.

Happy 2nd Birthday Baby Girl!

My baby turns 2 today! She's the most beautiful, spoiled rotten girl who has me wrapped around her little finger in the world, and I love her more than anything. Can't believe it's been two years already.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAITLIN!!!
